The Review
Matana MiShamayim is a film that combines humor and drama in a unique way. The film portrays the struggles of Georgian immigrants in Israel, who have to cope with cultural differences, social prejudices, and economic hardships. The film also shows the dynamics of a dysfunctional family, who love each other but also hurt each other. The film does not shy away from showing the dark side of human nature, but also offers moments of hope and redemption.
The film is well-written and well-directed by Dover Kosashvili, who is himself a Georgian-Israeli. The film has a realistic and authentic feel, thanks to the use of Hebrew and Judaeo-Georgian languages, and the naturalistic performances of the actors.
